David and Bev - August 2021

“Wow, I had no idea!” That’s a common response I hear when people learn all that Watered Gardens Ministries does for our area. How do we do so much through your financial partnership? We couple it with an incredible volunteer labor force. In fact, we fill more than 800 volunteer shifts each month through partnership with churches from all over the Four States. To celebrate that great work, every once in a while, we like to feature a volunteer (or two) for our “Testimony of the Month.” As with the stories we share of clients whose lives have been impacted, we hope a story of volunteers who are the ones making that impact will encourage you. David and Bev who serve in our Mission Market and kitchen are certainly making an impact.

“I’ll be 75 this year,” Bev said. “I love getting to be like a mom or grandma to the people we serve. So many of them don’t know what love is until they come here.”

David noted the importance of the freedom and dignity offered to people at Watered Gardens,

“You won’t get everything handed to you on a plate, but there’s a path if you’re willing. There’s so much grace given and so much teaching to help people make progress.

They drive more than an hour every week to serve. “Distance shouldn’t matter,” David said. “As believers, we’re called to go the extra mile to love the Lord and our neighbors.”

As long as people like David and Bev couple their time and energy with your partnership, Watered Gardens will continue to make an impact in the lives of those struggling in chronic poverty and homelessness. Thank you for your support and if you haven’t already, consider joining our volunteer team! Start by visiting wateredgardens.org/volunteer.
