John Williams - August 2025

Watered Gardens Ministries exists to serve the Church in its mission to help the poor, and we strive to be a place where the Church can serve effectively. Over the last fiscal year, we saw 11,904 volunteer shifts filled across our four campuses by scores of members from local churches in the Joplin area.

One of those faithful volunteers is Dr. John Williams, a friend of the mission for many years who became a regular volunteer at the Worth Shop upon his retirement.

"As a physician, I learned the value of hope in people’s lives. If you want someone to heal, you’ve got to give them hope—never want to take it away. In my experience, Watered Gardens is a leader in knowing how to give hope. They offer the opportunity for real spiritual and physical healing.

In volunteering, I meet a lot of people who have a sense of calling from God they’ve walked away from—and often think they’ve lost for good. Working alongside them, we get the privilege to call them back and help restore that purpose and hope God has for each of us.”

I’m so grateful for the generous donation of time volunteers like John give every day to serve those struggling in our community. And I’m thankful for financial partners like you, too. Your support helps provide both the volunteer recruiting/retention efforts of the ministry as well as the life-changing relational investment John talks about. Thank you.
