Kris Wilson

At our annual gala, my wife and I were honored to share the 25-year history of Watered Gardens and the different ministries that have arisen from the efforts of a great team. One of those ministries is our long-term residential recovery program for men. In 2015, we were gifted the Friendship Baptist Church property on 15th Street and a year later opened a 22-bed facility, our Forge Center for Virtue and Work. Men in this program commit to more than a year of character development, work readiness, and full-time employment. It's a tough program and nearly 3 of 4 will drop out before finishing. That's why we're so proud of guys like Kris who stay the course, committed to the transformational process God provides through this incredible program.

“There’s no higher honor than to be picking up the broken and downtrodden; that’s what God calls us to do. Jesus did not surround himself with saints. He surrounded himself with the most broken people. That’s what I love about this place: it’s a bunch of broken people that are being rebuilt by the glory of God.”

Even more good news: Kris recently joined our team as the Forge Resident Assistant. He's pouring into other guys who need the same relational encouragement and accountability he received. Thank you for your support. It is translating into changed lives and better communities. As we press on through our 25th year of ministry, please know that Marsha, I, and the Watered Gardens team are grateful for you!
