Marilyn - April 2021

The prophet Isaiah proclaimed, “Indeed, the Lord’s hand is not too short to save…” After meeting “Marilyn,” we’re certain there is no person outside of God’s reach to save nor any situation He can’t redeem. A few years ago, Marilyn was held captive, a victim of trafficking. She became severely dehydrated and malnourished until she was cast onto the street, no longer of any use to her captors. She remembers nothing that day but later awaking in a hospital bed. The trauma she had suffered took its toll affecting her ability to gain a foothold and she slipped into homelessness and addiction.

“Homeless for the last three years, my drug use led to an infection that nearly killed me. I was septic and spent 10 days in the hospital. After I was released, my antibiotics were stolen but I didn’t get more, so the infection grew. It has now damaged my heart, which was discovered when pneumonia landed me back in the hospital for another 11 days.

When it was time to leave the hospital, I wasn’t fully recovered but had nowhere to go except Watered Gardens. Turns out it’s been the best thing that could have happened. Respite gives me a safe, quiet place where I can retreat to and refocus myself on the right things. I feel loved and supported. God has His reasons. And my faith is in Him to provide as I place my hope in Him.”

Because of your support, Marilyn feels “loved and supported.” Together, through faith and God’s grace, we’re impacting lives in meaningful ways today and for eternity. Thank you!
