Mayleena - February 2025

When we opened the upstairs of Washington Family Hope Center last year to expand help to moms and kids in need of shelter, we didn’t plan on any significant changes in general services; intentional relationship development, encouragement toward work, holistic wellness including spiritual growth, and even down to the details of each room providing living space for 1 mom and up to 4 children. But there was one special space upstairs with an extra room that could allow for a larger family if the need ever arose.

And it did. From across the States, in Oregon, Mayleena found herself in desperate need and began praying for a way to return closer to home in SW Missouri. With six kids in tow, she knew it would be a miracle to find a place to take her in. Thankfully, that odd extra room in the upstairs of our ministry was empty and waiting.

“We had a hard, rocky past. I asked God to open doors that would get us away from there and take us on an adventure to a better life. Washington Family was the answer. I’m so thankful for this fresh start to get closer to the Lord with other faith-filled sisters. They’ve become like family to me.”
