Melissa Purcell - September 2023

In June of 2020, we opened our shelter for moms and kids, Washington Family Hope Center (WFHC). Since then, our six family rooms on the main floor have helped 42 moms and 101 kids who had no safe place to go. Some of these moms were on the run from abusers, some had lost everything from addiction, and others were abandoned after failed relationships. The commonality among them all was the risk of losing their children. We’ve not only helped 42 moms and 101 kids, but we’ve helped them stay together. That’s why I’m so excited to share that the renovation of our top floor and an additional nine family rooms has been completed and will soon begin accepting more families. It’s a vital ministry worthy of support. Here’s what Melissa, one of the moms currently in our center, had to say:

"Washington Family Hope Center is so needed in this area. A lot of women are staying in bad, abusive relationships because they have no place to go without being separated from their children. All the women who come here are wounded in some way, and it’s like a spiritual hospital where we and our kids can get fixed up and recover together."

I agree with Melissa. We are a “spiritual hospital” of sorts, now with 75 beds at this facility. Thank you for your support. More than doubling the operations at WFHC means we not only need your continued support but are praying for others to join you in your giving. Whether it’s WFHC, our Forge residential recovery program, or emergency shelter and respite at our Outreach Center, you are helping people step into healthier, more stable lives. I’m grateful for you!
