Tanishia - February 2026

Persistence. It characterizes the team I’m blessed to work alongside, and it is an attribute applauded by Jesus in Luke 11. He tells the parable of the one who seeks bread from his friend for a guest that's arriving. It is for no other reason than persistence that the holder of the bread finally turns it over to the one who seeks it. Jesus’ words are recorded in verse 8: “I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs." This lesson of persistence is then applied to prayer in verse 10: “For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened."

We asked, sought, and knocked persistently for Tanishia. She was in our shelter in 2024 and was baptized. But when she lost her dad last year, she lost her way. She wondered if she would be welcomed back.

“When I came back last summer, the staff welcomed me with open arms. It makes me tear up when I think about how much love and encouragement I receive here from staff and volunteers. Everyone is so kind. I've needed reconstructive surgery on my ankle for over 25 years, and I'm finally having that done this spring at the urging of Watered Gardens Care Coordination team. It just shows how they don't just love on you; they stay on you, too, to keep meeting goals and stay on a good path toward a better life.”

Persistence.

It was persistent prayer, encouragement, and love that has set Tanishia on a new path of hope and healing. Your support is a part of that redemptive story. Please know that your persistent support is opening doors for Tanishia and countless others. Thank you!
