Maybe you’ve heard of the “A.L.I.C.E.” population. The acronym stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. With inflation more than 20% since 2020, many families are experiencing ALICE struggles, and some of them end up homeless.
Von’e (Voh-nay) and her four children fell into that group. Faithfully working two jobs, cleaning a school on one hand and home health care on the other, she was barely keeping things afloat until a change in her living situation left her with no choice but to seek shelter. She found it. More importantly, she found new family.
"I've had a life-changing experience moving into Washington Family Hope Center. The amount of love and care we get from the other girls and the employees there are unmatched! We are family! Very blessed to be here and start this new journey, with our best feet forward."
More than 38 million American households fall into the ALICE population. This is a story of just one of those families whose assets were limited and life was constrained. Because of your support, Von’e has developed new assets through meaningful relationships and found a greater freedom that trumps any worldly constraints. We celebrate Von’e who is working to be in her own house later this year. Thank you for helping moms at Washington Family Hope Center plot a path out of poverty toward a flourishing life.
